Human trafficking is modern-day slavery. Know the signs and red flags so you can be aware of what might be happening even in your own community.
Texas is becoming educated on modern day slavery, and one of the ways this is happening is through the efforts to stop human trafficking during the Super Bowl. Law enforcement, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, Sen. John Cornyn, and local non-profits are working together to fight sex trafficking of minors and internationals during the Super Bowl. They need your help so here is a list of things you can do to stop sex slavery.
Each one of these listed have already made a difference in the fight against Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking. Traffick911 has done numerous trainings with local communities, Law enforcement, Nurses and Doctors, teaching the signs to watch for in a victim of human trafficking.
National Human Trafficking Hotline sponsored by Polaris Project has worked tirelessly to advocate for international victims of human trafficking and domestic victims of human trafficking. They help communities all over the World identify victims and potential victims. They work closely with Law enforcement, and help develop policies to create a slave free World.
Change.org is instrumental in bringing the voice of the people to businesses, Congress, Senate, Corporations you name it and they will fearlessly address an issue of injustice. Bringing issues to the public and helping their voice to be heard. An example of this was their efforts to have Craigslist adult services shut down. Facilitating 11,612 signatures for one of the Craigslist petition.
One of these can make a difference but all of them can stop human trafficking during the Super Bowl. If communities throughout Texas unite together then it will send a message that in Texas there will be no buying or selling of children or people during the Super Bowl or at anytime. This is the time for the community to stand up and send a message that slavery no longer exist in Texas.
To submit a video to Trafficked911 you must also submit an e-mail to contest@traffick911.com with your name, address, phone number, e-mail and video name. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Central Standard Time Friday, Jan. 21, 2011.

Monday, January 17th, was the Martin Luther King Jr Parade here in Dallas Texas. People cam out in droves to celebrate, and we were right in the middle sharing the Love and the message about the truth of modern day slavery and sex trafficking. You shoul have seen the smiles on people’s faces when Mr. Incredible “flew” down the street and led the marching band, or when Superman shouted from the top of a double decker bus, or when Batman and Robin shot past them with a high five and a flyer! You should have seen their bewildered faces when they read the billboard on the bus and the flyer in their hands that said “Free the Sex Slaves” and “Help Stop Human Trafficking”. I wonder what they thought? Some broke into immediate applause. They know exactly what this means. Others seemed to question if this could be just a bad joke of some kind. Sexual slavery? Trafficking of humans? In our country? In our city? at the Superbowl? We hope as the truth comes into the light that the people of Dallas will rise up in prayer and action to end slavery.

You know, as we were marching, leaping and shouting in the Martin Luther King Day Parade in Dallas this last Monday, it became increasingly clear how important the message of freedom really is. My 2 year old daughter and I spent the mile and a half long march waving frantically from the window of the birdsong bus. In the course of the parade she became a princess of sorts, graciously receiving the smiles and waves of thousands of parade goers, saying in her sweet little voice “I wuv you!” to all the strangers, who couldn’t even hear her in the crowd, but just see her tiny grinning face. What a strong and beautiful group had gathered, mostly from the African-American community here in Dallas/Ft. Worth. People that have a ancestors who were tied to the yolks of slavery, people who are completely free today, and are excited to remember the victory Martin Luther King JR proclaimed in the civil rights movement. A few moments later I heard Angela, one of our Superheroes, Spider-girl, to be exact, shouting “Jesus Loves You!” at the top of her lungs as she walked down the street passing out flyers about human trafficking and the atrocity of modern-day slavery. It made me laugh out loud with the sheer joy of it! And wouldn’t you know it, my 2-year old daughter began shouting it, too. “Jesus wuvs you!” Over and over again to the smiling strangers. I thought she’s two, and she gets it.
Jesus. loves. you.
It all comes down to that simple, often overlooked, phrase. The Lover of humanity paid a great price for our freedom. His love was not expressed in flowers or chocolate, gold rings or expensive gifts, but in Blood and Sacrifice. Oh, how the whole world will change when we love like he loves, and love what he loves. That is what will change the course of history and turn the tide of human trafficking.
Flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time, then disperse. We are looking for creative people to orchestrate flash mobs all around the world. If you need a better idea of what one looks like, go to You Tube and look up Christmas Food Court Flash Mob. (There are a number of Flash Mob videos worth checking out.) To do this, we need “musicianaries”, dancers, choreographers, singers, actors, poets, drummers, video production teams, evangelists, social activists and networkers. Put more simply, we need tribes of people who love Jesus and have a heart to see this world changed. Can you imagine how flash mobs could be used to raise awareness of different social injustices: human trafficking, childabuse, child soldiers, poverty, suicide prevention, native issues, etc? Phenomenal!
If this resonates in your spirit we want to connect with you. Next year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we are going to have simultaneous super hero flash mobs going on all over the country. Sound exciting? Stay tuned for more info. We are anticipating working with many people and groups who want to organize one of these in their own region. If you would like to put together a flash mob in your city, we would like to connect with you.
