Free the Sex Slaves!   Super Bowl Weekend Flash Mobs – February 4-6: You’re invited to join us for the Super Bowl weekend too!  Come dressed up as a Superhero and do “flash mobs” with us in an effort to raise awareness about Human Trafficking.  The Super Bowl is one of the most trafficked events in the country; what better place to bring awareness.

The whole world is watching the Super Bowl: We believe we have a good shot at raising awareness on an international level about Human Trafficking.  Our hope is that we inspire many to become “abolitionists” and join the fight to end modern day slavery.  This will be a fun outreach that will also get the media’s attention about a serious issue.

Super Bowl Instructions: If you want to participate in the Super Bowl flash mobs, here are a few instructions.

*You will need to sign up on our Superheroes for Justice Group Page on Facebook.  We are asking that you please invite all your friends to join this group page.  On our website you can also sign up to be on our email list.  There is a Super Bowl Flash Mob event page that will have all the up to date info.  All communication will be done electronically.  All flash mobs will be announced on these sites  in the future. Some of these flash mobs will be more publicized than others.  Some flash mobs will have only a handful of people who know about them.  If you have any creative ideas for a strike that we can do, please email us.  We will want to have a video team at your outreach.  We also would like to connect with groups in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who might want to get involved.

*Like all Superheroes, our identity will remain anonymous, therefore, please go by your Superhero name, if approached.  Organizations taking part will be named on our website.  We want to build a coalition of organizations, so please send us your contact info and logo.

We actually need both superheroes and villains in the flash mobs.  When creating your own costume, keep in mind football players, referees, limo drivers, cowboys, Indians, cartoon characters (Yogi Bear, Mighty Mouse, Underdog, etc. as well as historical heroes.  Diversity is desirable.

*Everyone will need to carry a sign that says “Free the Sex Slaves.org.” You can use sheets, cardboard, poster board, and plywood.  Be as simple or as creative as you want.

*Wear White to Fight!! We will be handing out plain white bandannas with Free the Sex Slaves.org written on them.  We need bandannas, white sheets and sharpies.  Make as many of them as you can and bring them along.

*We need some media warriors who would want to video tape this Super Bowl outreach.  We want to tape all the Flash Mobs and post them on You Tube.  We also want to interview all the superheroes and find out more about them and the powers they have.  In addition, we will interview groups doing outreach, human trafficking taskforce, Super Bowl attendees, football players, stars, etc.  We need a few video teams who can donate their time.

*If you have a bus or van available for use please contact us.

Five things YOU can do to stop trafficking during the Super Bowl!

Texas is becoming educated on modern day slavery, and one of the ways this is happening is through the efforts to stop human trafficking during the Super Bowl. Law enforcement, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, Sen. John Cornyn, and local non-profits are working together to fight sex trafficking of minors and internationals during the Super Bowl. They need your help so here is a list of things you can do to stop sex slavery.

  1. Traffick911 is organizing the “I’m not buying it” Campaign. You can help by printing out and distrubuting the information in your neighborhood.
  2. Put the National Human Trafficking Hotline Number in your cell phone 1-888-373-7888. If you believe you have seen someone that has been trafficked call 911 and the hotline number to report what you have seen. Do not address the traffickers.
  3. Sign petitions at Change.org. There is a section devoted to Human Trafficking. The petitions that have been signed on their website have changed America. There is a specific petition addressing the Super Bowl Committee.
  4. Get educated and tell others. If you do not know much about Human Trafficking don’t worry there are resources. Two great organization are “Transport for Christ” and “Truckers against Traffickers”  who teamed up to offer a free webinar called Human Trafficking 101. You could host a party and watch it with your friends.
  5. Use your video camera or your Iphone and upload a 30 sec video to Traffick911 at Vimeo telling why “I’m not buying it”. Helping to bring awareness about the issue of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking.

Each one of these listed have already made a difference in the fight against Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking. Traffick911 has done numerous trainings with local communities, Law enforcement, Nurses and Doctors, teaching the signs to watch for in a victim of human trafficking.

National Human Trafficking Hotline sponsored by Polaris Project has worked tirelessly to advocate for international victims of human trafficking and domestic victims of human trafficking. They help communities all over the World identify victims and potential victims. They work closely with Law enforcement, and help develop policies to create a slave free World.

Change.org is instrumental in bringing the voice of the people to businesses, Congress, Senate, Corporations you name it and they will fearlessly address an issue of injustice. Bringing issues to the public and helping their voice to be heard. An example of this was their efforts to have Craigslist adult services shut down. Facilitating 11,612 signatures for one of the Craigslist petition.

One of these can make a difference but all of them can stop human trafficking during the Super Bowl. If communities throughout Texas unite together then it will send a message that in Texas there will be no buying or selling of children or people during the Super Bowl or at anytime. This is the time for the community to stand up and send a message that slavery no longer exist in Texas.

To submit a video to Trafficked911 you must also submit an e-mail to contest@traffick911.com with your name, address, phone number, e-mail and video name. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Central Standard Time Friday, Jan. 21, 2011.

First wave of Superheroes descend on Dallas

Monday, January 17th, was the Martin Luther King Jr Parade here in Dallas Texas.  People cam out in droves to celebrate, and we were right in the middle sharing the Love and the message about the truth of modern day slavery and sex trafficking.  You shoul have seen the smiles on people’s faces when Mr. Incredible “flew” down the street and led the marching band, or when Superman shouted from the top of a double decker bus, or when Batman and Robin shot past them with a high five and a flyer!  You should have seen their bewildered faces when they read the billboard on the bus and the flyer in their hands that said “Free the Sex Slaves” and “Help Stop Human Trafficking”.  I wonder what they thought?  Some broke into immediate applause.  They know exactly what this means.  Others seemed to question if this could be just a bad joke of some kind.  Sexual slavery?  Trafficking of humans?  In our country? In our city?  at the Superbowl? We hope as the truth comes into the light that the people of Dallas will rise up in prayer and action to end slavery.

It’s all about Jesus

You know, as we were marching, leaping and shouting in the Martin Luther King Day Parade in Dallas this last Monday, it became increasingly clear how important the message of freedom really is.  My 2 year old daughter and I spent the mile and a half long march waving frantically from the window of the birdsong bus.  In the course of the parade she became a princess of sorts, graciously receiving the smiles and waves of thousands of parade goers, saying in her sweet little voice “I wuv you!” to all the strangers, who couldn’t even hear her in the crowd, but just see her tiny grinning face.  What a strong and beautiful group had gathered, mostly from the African-American community here in Dallas/Ft. Worth.  People that have a ancestors who were tied to the yolks of slavery, people who are completely free today, and are excited to remember the victory Martin Luther King JR proclaimed in the civil rights movement.  A few moments later I heard Angela, one of our Superheroes, Spider-girl, to be exact, shouting “Jesus Loves You!” at the top of her lungs as she walked down the street passing out flyers about human trafficking and the atrocity of modern-day slavery.  It made me laugh out loud with the sheer joy of it!   And wouldn’t you know it, my 2-year old daughter began shouting it, too. “Jesus wuvs you!”  Over and over again to the smiling strangers.  I thought she’s two, and she gets it.

Jesus. loves. you.

It all comes down to that simple, often overlooked, phrase.  The Lover of humanity paid a great price for our freedom.  His love was not expressed in flowers or chocolate, gold rings or expensive gifts, but in Blood and Sacrifice.   Oh, how the whole world will change when we love like he loves, and love what he loves.  That is what will change the course of history and turn the tide of human trafficking.

What IS a flash mob?

Flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time, then disperse.  We are looking for creative people to orchestrate flash mobs all around the world.  If you need a better idea of what one looks like, go to You Tube and look up Christmas Food Court Flash Mob.  (There are a number of Flash Mob videos worth checking out.)   To do this, we need “musicianaries”, dancers, choreographers, singers, actors, poets, drummers, video production teams, evangelists, social activists and networkers.  Put more simply, we need tribes of people who love Jesus and have a heart to see this world changed.  Can you imagine how flash mobs could be used to raise awareness of different social injustices: human trafficking, childabuse, child soldiers, poverty, suicide prevention, native issues, etc?  Phenomenal!

If this resonates in your spirit we want to connect with you.   Next year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we are going to have simultaneous super hero flash mobs going on all over the country.  Sound exciting?  Stay tuned for more info.  We are anticipating working with many people and groups who want to organize one of these in their own region.  If you would like to put together a flash mob in your city, we would like to connect with you.
